In the files section You'll find EDE109 with disc os and a How to... It would cost around $2-3 on a laser printer (B/W) or $10 on incjet to print the manual Yourself. Or get one for around $15 at Route66 Studio (mishon66@aol) or Syntaur.

On an Ensoniq VFX it is a must to have the latest possible, since a LOT of bugs are cleared in each version. In Your case You'll need to create a floppy with OS 2.1 with the EDE program (I've heard about OS 2.3 also, but can't find it...).

Btw. $200 was a nice price - lucky You :D

I just nabbed a nice VFX-SD for $200 from a little hole in the wall

guitar shop here in Seattle. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a

manual or a sequencer OS floppy. The rom on board is 2.00 and the kb

rom is 2.22. I've been looking around the forum here, but i'm still

unsure what the latest OS version is. Is it 2.10? I'm also looking to

procure a sequencer floppy, if anyone has an extra for sale. Also, a

manual. I have the pdf, but i dislike pdf manuals. I prefer a hard

copy. I however, don't feel like paying $25 for a xeroxed copy. If

anyone has an original, i'd love to buy it. What are the advantages to

having latest OS version installed anyway?

257 pages will cost A LOT more than $2-$3 =o] Probably closer to $30. I
bought the latest OS disc from E-Bay just now, so i'm waiting for that
to arrive. I'm sure i'll end up buying a manual from Syntaur soon
enough. Does anyone know the exact fixes/updates the newest OS give?

$200 was a nice price! I was expecting them to come back with a price of
something like $500. But he came back and said $200, so i replied with
SOLD! =o]

route 66 - owned by the moderator of this group has printed black and white manuals

also other upgrades, roms, software, etc for the vfx series

shipping is slow with route 66, so don't expect to get the kind of quick service you might
be accustomed to by other retailers

and keep a keen eye on ebay - i just purchased a vfx sd orginal manual, slightly abused,
for $.99 plus ship

Hey Guys. Just a note about Route 66, we have over the years been on
the slow side of shipping but we have improved that and in the next
few weeks we will be launching our new Route66 site. I am bringing
back the VFXSD series E coolers as well as a few new mod kits just for
this series.
If you don't want to start your computer every time you need your
manual we still have ALL the VFX series manuals and service docs.
I would love to hear from users on what mod or replacement part they
would like to see.

Sounds nice, Rich! Would some of those kits be cartridge stuff and such?
