Band in a box and other sequencers

Band in a box and other sequencers

2009-01-12 by themothershiprocks

I have Band-in-a-box software. Can those midi sequences be uploaded to
my SD-1 and played?

I need to get a manual (for free) and learn how to use the on-board
sequencer, but I was'm thinking it might be easier for meto sequence on
my computer and sys-ex them to my SD-1.

I've just learned how to use soundlib to send patches to my SD-1. Can
I do the same thing with sequences? How do I convert a .mid file to
what I need?

Thanks,
Scott

I'm replying to my own question...I was thinking(scary).
I guess the SD-1 isn't General Midi...so I guess that limits what
sequences you can send....Anyone shed some light?

Oh, you can *send* the sequences, but they might not sound like what
you'd expect. This might not be a bad thing...

You could probably edit the sequence a bit to come out reasonably well
on the SD-1. If you had more gear you could get that playing the
"missing" parts.

I always hated GM kit anyway.

Hi Scott,

I have been using Band In A Box for 14 years to create worship sequences to lead worship at church. You can record the song from BIAB into the SD-1 in real time. Then you can change the instrumentation, volume of parts, edit drum tracks etc. What I do is I then break the song down into individual sequences for intro, verse, chorus, bridge, free worship, ending etc. This way you can have different instrumentation and volume for each part and then use the most powerful feature of the SD-1, which is to change sequences "on the fly". You can change parts as you feel led and never have to do the song the same way each time you play it. If you want different sequences for parts and fit them together the same way each time, you can use song mode and link all the sequences together, with their different instrumentation, etc. all automatically.

I hope this helps. If need more info, contact me off list.

Blessings,

Vince
