I have a painfully stupid question

I have a painfully stupid question

2011-02-11 by Franz Schiller

I'm not an idiot, but I have a really, really stupid question to ask. Can I use an Ensoniq ESQ cartridge in a VFX? I doubt they do, but I haven't had the guts to see if they fit.

VFX carts are just so rare and expensive, I was wondering if there is an alternative (other than the floppy).

Thanks. And please keep your mockery to a minimum.

No mockery here !!!
Answer:
(1) They can be forced into the slot, but the case is made just a little different on the end.
(2) They WILL NOT work. You'll get an error message.
(3) Since the connecter is the same and the cartridge can be filed to fit the slot, I am working on a way to replace the 64kB EEPROM with a 256KB EEPROM and make them work with the VFX/SD. If I'm correct, you'll even be able to convert the ESQ ROM carts. into VFX RAM carts ! Whis me luck.

I think that Esq1 cart is a lower bit rate so it will not work.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
