poly at not working properly in sd1

poly at not working properly in sd1

2012-03-28 by jammie

after doing some extensive tests

the problem with the sd1 is the kpc emulator board revision 2.23 software

i had a eps i brought broken for repair and removed the kpc emulator revision 1.50 and fitted it to the sd1 keyboard and the poly at was working as it should

so i put the kpc 2.23 on the eps after i serviced it needed the psu updated to newr caps and 1 power reg and a new replacement floppy

and did the tests of the 2.23 version kpc emulator board

and it would not respond with out breaking fingers

so the problem is not the the keys or there rubber stops as i tested the rubber stops and they are designed in a way that the 2 triangle prongs flaten when pressed hard

as i dedueced that the keyboard works fine with the kpc board v150

i dont know what ensoniq did but the firmware must be beta and was never fixed its as tho they turned the sencitivity down to low

whether we can downgrade the firmware is another story i will have to coppy the 150 firmware to see if it can be exchanged to the kpc 2.23 board

as they both use the same scanner chip and its identical board

most respond to it from the rom section
most just do vibrato some do pitch change some do filter sweeps
you know if its working when you press it the effect gets stronger
like if you were turning the mod wheel fully open at hardest press
