VFX Rackmount?

So I went searching through the old posts and stuff and see a few threads about somebody wanting to put the VFX into a rack format. Did anyone ever get that finished? Did it work and are you still using it? That is still a neat concept in my mind... I have 3 SQ-R rackmounts and while they have many of the types of sounds the VFX had, it is still not a VFX. It would be really cool to have one in a rack form, sequencer and all. This would be good for so many reasons: 1. It would be lighter and possibly more protected than the keyboarded version. 2. The stability issue from the Poly-Key boards problem would be gone. The heat issue could also be negated by putting a good fan in the back. 3. One less physical keyboard to carry around... I know for me that would be a biggie. I mainly use my VFX-SD for the sequencer to trigger local and external sounds and when I record tracks into it, I use my SQ2/32 to do it. If no one got it to work, I still think that it would be a cool project, even after all of these years. I read the posts about the different issues...but I think that it may still be doable. I remember reading an article in a keyboard book in the 90's about how Wendy Carlos had a one-off Synergy synth turned into a rack unit. I would think that something in that motif would be cool...
