TS10 - VFX, same keyboard keys and mechanism ?

TS10 - VFX, same keyboard keys and mechanism ?

2000-10-26 by frederic@hardouin.net

Hi !

Some quick questions here :
. Are the keyboards of the TS10 and the VFX EXACTLY the same (keys,
mecanism and feel) ? Am willing to upgrade for a more *stable* and
*sample-eater* (cheap) Ensoniq synth ONLY if the keyboard feel is the
same.
. I happen to have the electronic schemes of the VFX if some of you
*electro-gyzmo-technicians* are interested. I'm looking for the
schemes of the TS12: mail me privately if you can help me on that !
. Someone mentioned a repair shop specialized in Ensoniq products
located in Lyon, France. I would be happy to get information to
contact them.

As soon as I get my MIDI setup up and running again, I'll post this
quick and dirty patch of mine called: "Digital Native Dance". Will be
interested in feedbacks and improvements !!

TIA, keep on playing !

Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] TS10 - VFX, same keyboard keys and mechanism ?

I have used the SD1 and the TS10 for years, and find both very similar.
Sound wise I found some sounds on the SD1 even better than the TS. This is
obviously an issue of taste, but I did not feel that TS improved much on
their brass, bass or string sounds. Much of that had to do with the more
sophisticated effects processing that I found I had to continuously tweak on
the TS.

The great advantage to me going to TS is that you get the GM playback feature
so it will always play standard midi files flawlessly (if you are into that),
the expanded presets, (120 instead of 20), the ability to name the presets
(not possible on VFX) and other things. The sequencer definitely has added
features that are great although the engines of both are virtually the same.

Warmly yours, Frank Fortunato
