I don't have my manuals in front of me, either, for my VFX-SD. However, I'm wondering if those patch select functions can be accessed via MIDI. That way, I could use a MIDI foot controller for that function, leaving both hands free to play....

Yes, they can, they send midi CC's and the VFX/SD responds to midi CCs
for them....
IIRC, it is 1 CC, with values:
0 = 0 0
32 = * 0
64 = 0 *
127 = * *

*checks* yep, that's right, and its CC #70 (Sound Variation) - its even
vaguely close to the standard CC :)

Suzanne,

Thanks! Now I just have to figure out how to map that into my foot controller ....

> As for the patch selects, they are one of the greatest features of
the VFX - an all around awesome controller - even today. The only
issue I have with using the foot pedal for the patch selects or other
features was that you then lost the sustain pedal! I have often
considered openeing the VFX up and running a seperate jack up to the
patch select buttons, freeing the sustain pedal.

It sure would have been nice to make that a voice level, sequence or
preset level function rather than a global.

Speaking of controllers, has anyone ever looked at stacking two VFX's
together to make a good hammond(module) controller?
