RE: [Fairlight-CMI] Lightpen for IIx?

2005-09-12 by Pascal Escoyez

HI Scott,
I have a IIx being recapped by my tech for the moment and one of the big problem of course was a none working lightpen. After searching a lot for companies that were able to deliver this in the past we had to face that no-one had a spare lightpen working.
So what we did, is to buy a 'modern' lightpen and customize it for the IIx by trial/error looking to the schematics and so on. This was of course a long process but now it seems to work.
I've still have some problems in one drive alignment on the IIx, so honestly I'm not working with the IIx in my studio yet. However all tests that I've done are ok.
As this was a long process, I had in mind to propose to the group this if some were interested (of course all guys having a IIx there can face one day a broken light pen, so there might been some interested IIx owners)
I still have to chat with our techs to see and define a price for the lightpen but this can be done quickly if you need one
Just tell me
Pascal

Hello Planet Fairlight!

I'm the new and very excited owner of a IIx system that's missing a
lightpen. I've looked through the archives and checked around the
Interwebnet and have not been able to find a source for either a full
on lightpen replacement or schematics to have one built. Is there
anyone on this list who can provide some direction or assistance?
Much appreciation in advance.

Cheers,
Scott
