Hello
I have had some problems in the past with the IIX monitor and I have recapped it without any problems. I suggest you to replace all the electrolytics with the 105°C version.
The large electrolytics in the mainframe's PSU don't need a replacement, they are long life type computer capacitors.

I have a IIX that the monitor is beginning the dance of doom! I am
amature guessing that this would be caused by capacitors begining to
fail due to age? The monitor and light pen work fine funtionally, But
there appears to be a movement in the green monochome text portions of
the screen.
Has anyone ever recapped a IIx or is that generally not a good idea.
I know that I have had other "Vintage" audio gear recapped and it has
made a huge difference as far as the reliability and maintenence
cost's asscoiated with the equiptment. Would anyone advise against
recapping a IIx due to personal past experience or am I just way off
base with my assessment of the problem?
