Hey there Derek (and everyone in the group) -
The lightpens for the Series II/IIx were originally made by Information
Control Corp., located here in Los Angeles. Back in 1999, I was able to get a
hold of Willie Phox, who was still running ICC (as a side business, I believe).
Back then, he could still manufacture new pens and repair broken ones, although
none of this came anywhere close to cheap. Not sure if he is still around, but
here was the contact information I had back then:
Willie Phox
Information Control Corp.
9610 Bellanca Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90045-5508
(310) 641-8520
I remember that it took Willie a few days to return calls, and
several weeks for the repair to be completed. However, he was a very nice guy,
and my dealings with him were great. 100% satisfied. I just had to learn some
patience!
By the way, there are two models of lightpens that were made: the LP-660
(early II's & IIx's) and the LP-730 (later IIx's). To my knowledge,
they function the same but the LP-730 is slightly longer, which will effect
how it fits into the monitor housing.
Hope this helps! Good luck to you!
Frank

my friend's Fairlight CMI-IIx.
He is planning to sell it soon, and we would like to get a few more recordings out of it
before it goes to some lucky buyer...
Does anyone have a source for the original pen or know which third party pen will work?
