Great idea, but I'm not an electronics engineer... but a capable person could design it with the specs and timing info of the various CMI floppies, and of course a USB interface. It would probably fit inside most CMIs, without mods. I think the "black box" is the most feasible approach to CMI connectivity. And, since it would work for all CMIs, it makes financial sense for all of us to invest and hire an engineer or two.
