Thanks Billyrock
These fires have been a sad and traumatic experience for us in
Victora, Australia.
Saturday 7 th of February ("Black Saturday"), was a very eerie day.
The temperatre was a record 46.4 deg Celcius or approx 115 deg F.
It was very dry and humidity was down to 6%.
It was very windy and the sky was cloudy grey because of smoke haze.
From where I live, 30 miles from the closest fires, the stench of
burning forest was very strong.
It has been quite an apocalyptic time.
Even yesterday Feb 27, the smell of smoke still is present in the air
as there are still fires burning in Victoria. Thankfully they are not
as ferocious as on "Black Saturday", but nevertheless they are still
destructive and deadly.
This fire though tragic has brought out the good in people and
donations have raised over $100 million.
It has brought solidarity with the firefighters from different states
of Australia, as well as firefighters from the United States and
Canada.
Billyrock, we really appreciate your country's support during this
crisis.
Cheers,
Antony
