Hello, Well I do remember a very experienced CMI 3 user saying that the older Analog output boards without the sample & hold daughter board actually had more character when playing sounds from the CMI 3 library. I have yet to do an A/B comparision between the two ! There is supposed to be more aliasing resulting in more " graininess " in the sound.
