Re: [Fairlight-CMI] Help name the new control

or an even wider span? With the tree shrew to cromagnon man to modern homo sapien progression, or instead of "The Ascent of Man" it could be "The Ascent of Sound" with a lever that when slid all the way to the left, fell under "music starts" and plays a rom sample of cavement clanking bones, move it to the right just a tad to "speech" and it plays a rom of cavemen forming a sound, further still to one marked "transduced sound" and you hear a rom of Alexander Graham Bell saying "can you hear me?" one more to the right under "transcendental sound" and you hear a hippie with summer love love music in the background saying "far out, I hear you, man" then IIX, III, and 30A:)

How about a dial with "years", ranging 1980 to 2011

How about naming the dial "The Wayback Machine" with "Way back" and "Way forward" as opposite ends of the dial?

Our protype CMI-30A has a new control which has the working title "character". This is an assignable realtime control that takes a sound from really grungy, through CMI-II and III to Crystal Core purity at 11 (other samplers only go to 10, of course).

Can anyone think of a snappier name than 'character'?
