Hi Guys,

 If any of you are interested in making your CMI 11X considerably quieter.I
highly recommend the fan modification which was done by Peter Wielk of
Horizontal productions here in London.
 I delivered my delivered my CMI 11X to Peter who replaced the noisy 20 year
old fans with brand new Papst models. These new fans also mount with rubber
style mounts instead of metal ones.
 Peter has done a great job and what a difference it makes to the noise
levels. Now most of the noise is from the mechanics of the 8" drives
themselves. The 11x seems so quiet now. However, Peter is confident that a
new external box which houses 2 X 3.5" floppies will be a viable alternative
soon. If the 11X is running of the smaller floppies then this will make the
machine extremely quiet indeed.
  I would say that it is definitely worth spending the money for the fan
modification. Anyway I hope all you CMI 11X owners are well !
