as far as I vaguely remember, there is a limitation regarding the usable disk size in the OS that is either at 4 GB (or even at 2 GB?). And a transfer speed size inherent in the SCSI interface.

So the main advantage from newer drives might be limited to them being more quiet than the old ones; the second one may be shorter seek times when only a portion of the disk is used.

Transfer speed might be limited by the SCSI protocol used rather than by modern disks internal speeds.
