RE: [Fairlight-CMI] RE: Synclavier samples import support in CMI-III

"import clip from physical disk (for importing from synclavier disks)"

If I remember correctly (I did write it!), this function was (quickly) implemented to recover files from a corrupted drive. It in effect I mounted the Physical disk (starting at sector zero) and placed the entire disk image onto an MFX clip. This meant that to recover any audio files within the disk image you would just navigate thru the clip finding what you needed, and re-assemble the audio manually (amongst all the data structures which would have produced lots of noise) – It also implied that only 16 bit samples could easily be recovered. Synclavier disks would have fallen into this 16 bit environment and therefore would have been readable, but, manual location of each file would be needed.

So, nobody from the list? I wrote to Synclavier Europe just in case they could supply even some test image, but, seems to me, no progress there also.

Can I ask Synclavier owners here in CMI group, if somebody could share any disk image to try?

Hi All, apologies, may be I missed that before. I've been reading release notes to SW rev11 recently due to transition from 9.34 to rev.11.39 and found the notes about direct import support for Synclavier disks:

"import clip from physical disk (for importing from synclavier disks)"

Does anybody use it or even tried it in the past? I did a quick search in the group and have not find that topic in discussion, but found few Synclavier owners.
