Re: [Fairlight-CMI] MFX-2 stops at Boot ROM

2014-02-28 by Joe Sleator

Hi James,

If you have a way to connect your SCSI drive to your PC, you might want to verify that it's readable, unless you have some other way.

Be careful when locating the drive it on Windows, that you don't allow windows to configure the drive as a Windows drive. From disk manager, you want to "cancel" its offer to configure the drive for you.

Once it's visible as a physical drive, you can use a binary editor like 010Editor to examine the drive directly.

If the data is damaged, you can write the CMI boot info back from an image on your PC hard-drive using this setup.

I have images of my FL hard drives if you need 'em.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi,

When I switch on my Fairlight MFX-2 along the bottom of the screen I see Boot Rom V 18.00 which just stays static. The boot up sequence doesn't start. I have reseated all of the cards and also reseated the ROM 18 on the Q-133 card .
What else shall I look for ? Thanks.
