Re: [Fairlight-CMI] 2004 Meeting - a suggestion

2004-05-18 by Colin Ross

Hi all
It's Colin here. I had to put the 2004 Meeting to one side for 6 weeks because my 6 year old son Stephen has been threw a great ordeal. He was in an intensive care unit for 3 weeks off the 6 weeks fighting for his life and the other 3 by his bed in hospital. A few members of this forum know about this and I want to openly thank them for their great support shown to my wife and I when we needed it most. I'm glad to say that Stephen is making a recovery and is back home now were the healing process continues.
I want everyone who wants to attend the 2004 Meeting to email the forum to state if they will be attending. I need 35-40 in numbers to pay for the room and the whole day basically and keep the cost down. (I want the day to cost no more than 40UK pounds each) Everyone will have access to a very large standard sample bank and a bigger sample bank for trading with other users. This alone is worth the price of the day. It will be great to me all of you. I will still have a couple of special guess on the day and it will happen this time with or without me as another Fairlight user will take over if I can't attend. BUT I'LL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!
pmjtaysom thankyou.......if you can bring the instruments, as I will be flying in, you will get whatever samples of the largest libraries I know for a Series III for your help. I will bring the HD full off samples. I have 220 tapes also full of some very interesting samples and songs. I have to work out how to get them off tape to a HD as I do not have a tape streamer internally. If anyone has an external case or Tape Streamer that they could lend me ASAP I will also give them a copy of whatever samples and Hits I have.I will have some parts, cards and IIx samples on 8" disks. Can anyone who has anything that they can share with the rest of the forum please bring it along. The Last Saturday in June (if everyone agrees)is the date and the venue does not have to be in the middle of London but it has to be London for people flying. It has to have internet access to link up to Greg and the USA/CANADA members.I'm flying to London within the next 2 weeks to finalize the venue. I had a choice of 3 venues and these at the time was around Islington. I'm staying with a friend in the Bedford area the night before so if that area is ok I can get somewhere around there. Tell me what you all think.I need to work fast.
I NEED THE NUMBERS ASAP ASAP ASAP SO I CAN BOOK SOMEWHERE. CLOSING DATE TO GET YOUR NAME DOWN IS THE END OF MAY. I WANT TO MAKE THE DAY SPECIAL SO PLEASE ALL ATTEND. I ALSO NEED ANOTHER SERIES III AND IIX OR II FOR THE DAY SO IF SOMEONE CLOSE TO LONDON CAN MAN THEIRS TO OVER SEE THE TRADING THAT WOULDALSO BE GREAT. I WANT EVERYONE TO AIR THEIR VIEWS.
ONCE AGAIN THANKS TO ALL
BEST AND KIND REGARDS
COLIN

I would like to add my support for your comments, Philip. As you say, no
offence in intended to anyone.

A simultaneous meeting here near Niagara Falls, Ontario would be good
for the same reasons that you suggested Cambridge as an alternative to
London. I will remain ready to make arrangements.
