Fairlight-CMI

Hi

I want to turn the CMI series III mainframe onto the left or right 
side (to save floor space) which mean that the mainframe will be 
resting in a vertical position. Have you tried this or do you know 
if the electronics inside the mainframe can handle this?

Does anyone know where to purchase/download sounds for the CMI 
series III?

Hi Brian,

Your CMI III will be fine on it's side. In fact, the airflow is 
better that way, and there's nothing in the mainframe that needs to 
be specially inclined. I also have heaps of excellent libraries 
available. They range from the complete Fairlight one that you 
probably already have, to the extensive Prosonos and Sound Genesis  
libraries, the IIX library, plus thousands of sounds that I collected 
from top producers and composers over the last 20 years. They're 
available on external 4 Gbyte drives at very reasonble prices. Please

Hi all,

There is a series III on e-bay. Note that this is an 8-voice unit (see
extra photos on the seller's site). Seemingly it's sn 199. It has Ed Walsh
flightcases. Currently for 3k, 9 days to go.
