Series III strife

Series III strife

2004-09-24 by buchla300

Hi there
My series III won't boot. It sticks on the screen saying Fairlight ESP. This has happened
since moving it.
I have tried what Peter @ horizontal suggested, but no joy. He seems to think it is a
hardware problem rather than a software poroblem.
My question..Is there anyone in Belgium with a Rev 9.34 that I could swap cards with, to
see if it is a card? Failing that, anyone with any ideas?
Thanks in advance
David

Hi David,

I suppose you already tried the following:
- extract your Q777
- try to boot
- turn it off
- try to press the Eprom on the Q777
- put the Q777 back in place
- try to boot
Do you get any change ?
Cheers

Ry

Hi David,

I have an 11.32 A/B unit with MFX hardware, if all fails I'm willing
to help you out on the swapping. I'm near Maastricht in the

a) there is no EPROM in my Q777
b) now it does nothing.....the scsi card clicks 3 times though and
then the second light from the top stays on...

Hi David,

Are you sure all cards are properly in the slots and all connectors are
tight ? Given the fact that it happened after a move I would stronly
suspect a card has loosened.

Good luck !
Harald.

the EPROM should be located at B5,B4
I will try to upload a pic in the "photos" directory

agree with David and Peter, try to reinsert the Q777, and check the
other ones (second suspect: waveform supervisor card)
All the best

Ok, now it doesn't do anything. Just sits there before any of the screens appear.
Buggered! An ex Fairlight!!
Does anyone have software 9.34 that I can try and install again?
Cheers

Hi David,

I don't have a Series III rev 9.34 CMI but I do have the
9.34 system disks. If you send me 3 blank 8" floppy disks
and you cover the shipment costs, I can make a copy for you.

Hope it helps.

    Laurent.
