I'd certainly be interested in seeing/hearing these. :->

Subject: [Fairlight-CMI] MP3s and video clips

Dear all,

Confession time: I don't own a Fairlight :-( but I am a great admirer
and I did briefly play a Series III at a trade show in 1986 at Earls
Court, London (ahem when I was 15!).

I have lots of other samplers thought: Emax Se, Emax II, Casio FZ-1,
Ensoniq EPS 16+, Mirage (currently dead) and two (British hurrah!)
Cheetah SX-16 (did someone say aliasing?).

I have a tape from the defunct UK Electronic music magazine
Electronic Soundmaker and Computer Music from February 1985 if memory
serve me correctly.

It features Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo etc) putting his
Fairlight II/IIx through the paces with a Linn Drum.

I can MP3 this and load it up to the files section. Are people
interested in this?

Furthermore, I found an old Betamax tape (oh yes!) with a UK BBC
program from about 1985 on it about synths in general. There is a
short clip of Kendall Wrightson from Syco Systems, London,
demonstrating a IIx. It is only a few mins long. I can digitise
this and upload it to you guys.

Is anyone interested in this?

My question is what's the best format? I can do AVI or MPG or Divx,
I don't think I can do MOV. I can grab at full DVD quality but
obviously the file will be huge. What final file size would people
be happy to download, 5MB? This is the Yahoo file upload limit any
way. Perhaps someone with an FTP server will allow me to upload it
there - any takers?

I don't want to deny Mac users either. Divx is the best quality for
size. http://www.divx.com/

Sorry for the questions.

If I get no replies, I'll just go ahead and do a best guess and
upload the result to the files section.

Regards

JB Emond le retour... not too late ?

2003-09-17 by Jean-Bernard EMOND

(URL) : http://www.fairlight.free.fr

Sorry but, I dont speak very well English... It's more easy for to write in
French...

Ok... I'll give it a try.

Hello to all !

After being away for a while... But I've done a lot of things during this period...
wedding, house, child, job, book...

And I come back, more motivated than ever !

I'll put online soon my new web site, using the same address:
(URL) : http://www.fairlight.free.fr

On this web site you'll find some new documentation files (PDF), and a lot of other stuff.

I'll try to spend more time to develop ExtOdy !

I'm still looking for some documentation to convert in PDF format ! I wish someone could
send me a copy of the "CMI III service manual", It would be so cool ! Anyone has
got this document ?

That's how (some of) you have downloaded for free some Fairlight leaflets and manuals !

I'd like to deeply thanks Peter Simon, who sent me a few years ago a big box (from Australia
to France) full of floppy-disks and manuals ! I've begun to scan these docs, but there's a lot
of them and it takes a lot of time !

That's why I'm looking for a scanner with an automatic loader to speed up the process !

Thanks a lot to everyone for your grettings, and hope you found these docs usefull !
