Fairlight-CMI

One more question for you guys, I know...I'm full of them. 

I want to get a sustain pedal for my CMI. Not having much luck finding one 
that has the cannon connector so I'm wondering, if I get a regular pedal with a 
1/4" connector, could I re-wire that with an XLR plug? If so, where would I find 
what pin is what so I do'nt ruin the CMI?

Or any ideas on how I could get the proper pedal?
