Fairlight CMI OS X sample convert utility

Fairlight CMI OS X sample convert utility

2005-05-30 by James Thomson

Hi Guys,

Would it be possible for someone to write a AIFF/ WAV file format to
Fairlight file format sample utility ? It would be great if this worked in
OSX ! For the more technically minded, do you think this would be difficult
?

Cheers,

any software that import 16 motorola PCM will work. But after some tests,
you' ll have a highly better sound if you resample in analog the output of
your serie3, especially if you use some A/D apogee converter ( ex ad500 ou
ad1000 ). There is no comparaison between the two ways.

This isn't actually that difficult - the .VC file format is pretty
straightforward, and I've had plans for adding that capability to CMI
Explorer for a long time now. It's just talk at this point, I know
:). For various reasons I haven't had the time to work on things, but
if more people bugged me I think I'd probably find the time somehow.
Of course, this would be for Windows as I don't own a Mac (but
donations would be accepted ;-)).

Did you ever have any luck getting CMI Explorer (or KMI's cmios9)
running on OSX?

Regards,
-Rob

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
