RE: [Fairlight-CMI] Series 3 Filter Resonance

RE: [Fairlight-CMI] Series 3 Filter Resonance

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I can't get ANY emphasise on the filter cutoff when applying resonance. If I do get anything, it's probably psychological.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,
As far as I know the s3 filters don't go into self oscilation. This is a real pity. Obviously you can can play with the range controls to emphasise the filter functions. Also there are issues regarding these functions not being 'real time'.

Tony.

Hi everyone,

I asked this a few years back, but never got an answer, so thought as
we've had many new members since, including the legendry Peter Vogel,
thought I'd pop the question again. Hopefully someone can enlighten
me. It's doing my head it :-/

I have never been able to get much, in fact anything noticeable, out
of the "Resonance" setting when attaching it to a control on the music
keyboard, even manually setting it. The "Filter Cutoff" works fine.
I've set the range, as you would with other functions, but it never
affects the sound or adds resonance to the cutoff.

I've spoken to James Thompson recently and he also has this problem,
so I hope it's just a case of 'we're doing something wrong'.

Has anyone got this function working as you would expect resonance to
work, ie squelchy sweeping stuff, or is this just a characteristic of
the SIII's filters? I really hope not!!!

I wait in anticipation for 'the answer' :-D

Cheers,
Peter
RE: [Fairlight-CMI] Series 3 Filter Resonance

2005-06-13 by Laurent Lemaire

Hi all,

I know it works on my CMI 3. But it took me some time
to find the right range to have a resonance effect.

This evening, I'll check the range and I'll post a mp3
file on my web site to demonstrate the resulting effect.

Regards.

 Laurent.
