The Tube Special in Japan

The Tube Special in Japan

2003-09-24 by Chris Strellis

It's me again, and again, and again.

Like Arron I was lying awake last night but not thinking of copyright
issues. In fact I don't mind putting TV program stuff up unless I
get a cease and desist order!!

I remember a "The Tube Special" where Jools Holland goes to Japan.
He interviews various bands including YMO. Haroumi Hosono is there
with his Linn Drum but more importantly he interviews Ryuichi
Sakamoto and his Series II. He loads uo the Humans disk and the
Laugh sample and Ryuichi says "I think it not laugh!" meaning its not
a very good laugh sample. They also play Orch5 - of course.

This would be diamond stuff too.

Sorry but both The Tube video clips I've mention have been erased
from my collection - perhaps we can approach the original source i.e
Channel 4. I think for something like GBP150 they can put a show
onto VHS for you. There may be other caveats you have to meet but it
can be done. Probably out of bounds for this group.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris
Will you believe it I was thinking of that last night. I was taking to a
friend who has a media background and he says that Channel 4 has a achieving
centre who will do that for you. I'm going to look into it in the next few
days. I'm going to ask them if they will put instead of one show on the tape
but would they put the artist we want onto one tape.
I was told also that channel 4 released a DVD of the best of The Tube, so
I'm going to hunt one down and buy it.
I really have to go
Regards
Colin
PS I know that JJ (AON) is a big fan of our forum and I know he would prefer
you to go out and buy the video "VISIBLE SILENCE" first. There's your plug
JJ. ha ha!
