Fair Price for MIDI hardware??

Fair Price for MIDI hardware??

2006-03-10 by kar_chicago

Someone has proposed to sell me the midi hardware off of a non-
functioning IIx.

On one hand, it's of no use to the non-functioning system, but it's
removal will lessen the value of the system if it can ever be restored
to working condition.

Does anyone have any idea what a reasonable (ie, fair to both parties)
price might be?

Offer to buy the whole non-functioning system. It is a better deal than
buying the separate items and canibalizing the original IIx. You'll get
voice cards, CPU boards etc.

I understand you have a non-midi II ? Why not try to restore the non
functioning IIx with your parts ?

Beware, you might miss some cards or cables if you only buy the backpack
unit on the outside. You also will need a midi software release to run it.

I was told by the fellow who restores synclaviers that these MIDI boxes
sell for 1000 dollars. But that's his word...

Good luck.
Harald.
