A follow-up to my recent post

A follow-up to my recent post

2007-08-21 by Paul Haggard

Greetings to all,

I wrote recently about my debacle concerning buying a series III
machine from a member of this group, ensnareyou via eBay.

I thought I would like to follow-up, just in case you are reading this
Lee..

First off, a word of thanks for a very nice and supportive phone call
from John Hill. Some of you may know John - he owns Synhouse
(http://www.synhouse.com/) and is a regular seller on eBay. He is
quite an excellent resource for Fairlights and is quite the Synclavier
expert as well. He gave me some good words of advice for which I am
very appreciative.

Normally I would just send this in a private e-mail to you Lee, but I
figure that shaming you in public might be more effective.

I have contacted and had discussions with an attorney. I am
considering civil litigation against you, plus damages if possible.
I have also contacted the Modesto police department, will be
contacting the DA for the county where you live and (most importantly)
the FBI concerning your actions. Whether or not they will do anything
is of course the big question.... if not I intend on trashing you both
here and at the Holmes page - if necessary if you dare to sell on eBay
I will be watching your auctions and contacting all bidders privately
about your fraudulent behavior.

And if you don't like what I am saying - I DARE YOU to freaking sue me
- go ahead. You have brought this on yourself and I don't care
anymore. I hate to say this is a classic case of "disappointed but
not surprised", but it is. So completely typically of the poor
behavior of many people these days.

Shame on you, Lee. I never would have figured you for an asshole
after meeting you, but I guess you thought that $6,300 hard earned
dollars would be OK to steal since your dying... Is this the kind of
karma you want God to bring down on you?

Perhaps it just shows the truth - that in the end you not only get
what you ask for - you always, always, ALWAYS get what you deserve...

My apologies to the rest of this group for sounding off like this. I
would personally strongly advise that you NEVER EVER deal with this
individual again. He is a liar and thief pure and simple...

Please take this off-list, Paul. This isn't a place for anger and
hatred. I'm sorry that the man robbed you and certainly appreciate the
warning - I'll spread the word. But I don't need angry messages to
people I don't know in my inbox in the morning.

Just take solace in the fact that the guy will be reincarnated as a
brine shrimp.

Ok, this doesn't need to be continued unless there's some further
development (which hopefully there will be), but speaking as someone who
subscribes to this group to gain information on the Fairlight and monitor
the state of the second-hand market, I've found Paul's posts on this subject
helpful. I'm glad he's keeping us informed about what's happening and what
steps he's taking.

However, not trying to be devil's advocate here, I'd still like to know the
ensnareyou's part of the story (obviously he's still active on eBay, because
he's just won a bidding, and still has 100% positive feedback). He's alive,
that's for sure.

Just my 3c worth,

Rambo

I can appreciate you not wanting me to air my anger in public on this
group. Obviously this would usually be an off-list topic, however my
goal was to shame Lee in front of everyone on the list. Am I angry? -
Yes and with a full right to be. Is the fact that I am bringing this
up in front of the whole group very judgmental? - Yes, and with no
apologies. I'm sure everyone here can understand my position.

Trust me, I don't like having to act out of anger... it's not a
pleasant thing to deal with.

And for those of you who *are* interested, I have spoken with the
Modesto, CA Police Department and they are opening a case against Lee.
It should be very interesting to see where this goes..

Hi Paul
I fully understand your anger and your action and I feel very sorry for you.
I think you did the right thing displaying this scam. This way we all know who we shouldn't deal with.
Best regards
Brian
