cleaning inside music keyboard

2008-10-18 by dd_62622

Hi,

Anyone out there with experience in opening up the music keyboard of a
IIx ?
I tried to lift the top cover yesterday but just didn't dare to put
more force behind it.
I followed the route from the service manual but the top would only
move for about 50 mm or so.
I remember reading that it was hard to do but it must me possible...
Any tips or tricks here?

cheers,
David

Check out PDF page number 392 (Section 8.4) of the Series III service manual here…

http://www.fairlightus.com/Downloads/index.php?dir=Historical%2F

Complete with a picture showing how to do it!

There is also a Series II Service manual scanned, unfortunately the person who scanned this manual omitted the very page you need.

As far as I remember the IIX keyboard and III keyboard are pretty much identical except for the left hand control panel, the I/II/IIX had 3 sliders, the III have a pitch bend wheel, anyhow so the manual for the III should be good enough.

Move to quarantaine
