Also cmi III samples not played through a cmi do not sound right - fairlight
can only be played on a fairlight - basta!

Dear j,

Talk to Peter Weilk, but to be truthful i do not think anyone will give away
cmi samples - it defeats the purpose of owning a cmi III

Thanks

on the subject of hollow sun, does anyone have their original
fairlight samples who would be willing to share? they now only offer
them as a part of their nostalgia package in alesis fusion format
which seems to be next to impossible to convert to wav.

many thanks,

if someone is willing to spend money on the disks... i dont think they
should be shunned because they dont own a fairlight cmi - does it make
more sense to have an incomplete crappy re-sample library from a
company like zero-g?

anyhow my point is not to start a debate... if no one wants to give me
any information about what is on each disk... then just say "we dont
want to tell you" - easy enough

That doesn´t make sense. Why would anyone without a CMI want to spend money
on CMI disks ?

No

Well, there is a list available for factory discs 1 to 32 for the CMI IIx.

I don´t recall where I downloaded it but I can email it to you off-list.

Re: factory disks index

2008-12-21 by alex8bit

its less expensive to buy just the disks first... than to buy a
fairlight cmi and disks together (obviously) - with the disks i can
atleast preview sounds using proper tools... i understand that samples
for the fairlight sound different when they arent played thru a
fairlight... but it gives me something to do in the meantime since a
cmi is out of my pricerange right now

And what tools would that be ?

I think you should buy the Pro Rec CD and sample sounds into whatever
sampler you have available.

Clearly the cheapest way to get access to CMI samples.
