Hi George and all -
My original message to you might have ended-up in your junk folder, so I thought I would reply through the group for you and anyone else interested...
I have a IIx that I am looking to sell, located in the South Bay. I have a brief history below... Let me know what you are looking to pay for one, if it sounds like something you're interested in after reading. Please forgive me if I am too general about some details (I'd be happy to clarify):
Started off life as a Series II in 1983, and was upgraded to a IIx the following year. The MIDI/SMPTE interface was was also added.
Additions to this sale would include a full set of (three) flight cases for the music keyboard, mainframe, and monitor/QWERTY keyboard; a spare NEW lightpen; a full IIx library plus system disks, cleaning disk and a box of blank disks; operations and repair manuals on CD (in PDF's).
Not operating at 100%. Known issues include a faulty channel card (one of eight - believed to have bad VCA - sounds at full volume); monitor laminate is bubbling around edges; MIDI IN port B (one of four) not functioning; SMPTE functions are intermittent; cosmetic wear on all pieces (see history below).
Just to state the obvious, being sold AS IS.
This particular IIx has a great history... I am her second owner, and purchased her in 1999. Her original owner was a well-known studio musician in New York, whose clients included:
Jeff Beck (tracks from "Wired")
Kurtis Blow
Lou Rawls
Psychedelic Furs (tracks from "Mirror Moves", I believe)
Missing Persons (tracks and remixes from "Rhyme & Reason")
Terms of Endearment (soundtrack)
Yello (for live shows)
Peter Gabriel (for live shows)
... and a bunch more that he couldn't remember (!)
The mainframe and monitor/QWERTY keyboard were fitted in to a rack for ease of transportation between studios. Securing them left its fair share of cosmetic blemishes. The music keyboard is also marked with some spots and is blemished.
I do not want to ship due to time, costs and age of unit. Plus, I think you really need to see what you're spending money on these days, and ebay does not interest me.
Why am I selling her? Due to a demanding work & school schedule, it's not getting much use and I would like to see this one go to a good home. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask - I'd be happy to answer.
Thanks for your time. Best to you and everyone in the group -
