Accessing the drives from a Pc or Mac ?

2009-04-05 by mrmederic

I am trying to access my Fairlight MFX2 drives via a mac or pc, in order to repair the os that seems corrupted.

I would also be happy to have an interface to make safer backups and to be able to bring sounds or software to and from of it.

I was also told to build the floppy drive to usb emulator, but it's not an easy build, and is not proven to work yet right ?

Or i'll just try to connect the drive it to an old pc's internal scsi card and see what happends i guess...

Hi Eric,

You might want to give "cmios9" a try (see Files section). The user interface is quite rudimentary, but it's a very powerful tool when it comes to backups of CMI/MFX2 harddisks. It can also be used for the conversion of voice files to/from WAV.

Regards,
Michael

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
