Hi there : In fact by conincidence I do already use a VM3100pro :) I have 8 chanenel t-dif digital comming to and from the DAW into the r-buss interface, which leaves me 12 analogue channels for everything else, so im still 4 channels short, even with no other instruments patched in. I do have 9.34, so I could use the router in my system, if one were available, or I cound monitor from the Mix output, and the render anything up to groups of 12 voices via the vm3100pro, but then would have to mix afterwards inside the DAW : but i guess it may well be the way to go. I guess what i am thinking is the following : If i have a set of chords which I want to play from the fairlight, with a max polyphony of 6 notes, I only want background noise from 6 output cards, not the remaining 10 as well. So I go into setup and allocate my voices to channels 1-6, plug in only the active channels into the vm3100, and record the part into my DAW. Im sure this would work, but I was wondering if anyone had any better solutions ? For example : if there was some way to turn off non- playing voice cards, I could use the stereo mixer card, as I wouldnt get the noise from all the unused channels. Again : Im just thinking out loud really about the best way of doing it, and was wondering if you guys already have nailed this down. But thanks for the heads up Klaus !
