Some newly archived disk images

Some newly archived disk images

2011-10-24 by tama_rat

I just uploaded some more disk images to:

http://www.fairlightus.com/cmi/fairlight_floppies/IIx_disks/Jeff%20Disks/

The Series II (not X) I acquired last year came with a ton of disks, and I've finally started wading through them.

I'll keep adding more as I archive them. Most likely I'll only have time for that on weekends, so check back on Mondays to see if there is anything new.

Hi Joe,

What is your setup and software to get those image files?
I' ve tons of floppies but I could only export the voices to my S3/Mfx2 and after transfer the sounds with tahiti optical drive on my pc.

Re: Some newly archived disk images

It's an old PC (Pentium I) with an Adaptec 1522 combo SCSI/Floppy interface running DOS and Dave Dunfield's ImageDisk:

http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img/index.htm

The Adaptec 1522 is just used as a floppy interface, as it has a floppy controller well suited to the 8" disk formats used by the CMI. Not all floppy interfaces are created equal!

Once imaged, the images can be converted to raw (binary) images and loaded with kmi9000's cmios9 tool. With that you can move files into and out of the disk image.

Reverse the process to put it back on a CMI floppy.

If you have disks to image, I may be able to help image them for you.

I am looking for any of Kate Bush's disks/files, in case you ever run across them. :-) I understand she sold off all of her CMI gear a couple of years ago, but have no idea where it wound up. I hope those disks aren't lost forever!

Joe

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
