RE: [Fairlight-CMI] Pet Shop Boys

Ah, cool. Yeah, I have to say it was solely the Pet Shop Boys that influenced me in getting my Series III. I do want a Series IIx at some point also...

I'd be overwhelmed if they wanted mine :-) I'll be looking forward to hearing their projects/albums 'with that Fairlight' sound again :-)

I wonder what happened to their original IIx, unless they still have it. Does anyone know if the PSB's owned their own Series III's or did they belong to the people involved on their projects, ie Trevor Horn, Andy Richards, etc?

Hi Peter
All of the early Pet Shop Boys stuff was on IIx's. They had 2 of them (one
they owned and the other they hired.)The Old Grey Whistle Test and Top of
the Pops archives show allot of IIx usage. They did use the Series III allot
on the 2nd album onwards. They might have also got a Series III as well
recently, I don't know but I can tell you they got a Series IIx that is a
prime example and is great condition with a copy of my library. I never
thought of it before now but what if I heard a single of theirs with one off
my samples, that would be a bit spooky. The reason I wanted a IIx in the
first place was because of artist like them etc. Things have gone a full
circle.... so to speak.
Best regards
Colin

Well, Im not worlds most obsesive fan but :

Yes I think they did own their own fairlight : there are references
in the expanded notes of the album re-releases which state than chris
did most of the sequenceing for at least one track at home with a
fairlight set up his lounge.

They have definately had access to series II fairlights, as they are
using two to play "oppertunities" on the whisle test volume II DVD
(along with a DX-1 and and emulator II).

Hi Peter
The Pet Shop Boys had two Series III when touring. One was their own and the
other was rented to them. Gerald on this forum has one of their Series III.
It came with a few songs still on it. NICE..... Both Series III were sold so
they don't have any now not unless they bought one very recently.
regards
Colin
