CMI III 9.34 For Sale
2012-04-03 by KyleR
I have decided to offer up my Fairlight CMI Series III for sale as I am not using it as it deserves. This is a machine I bought from group member Peter Connelly in the UK. It was a 6.04 machine that Peter C sent to Peter Wielk to be upgraded to its current 9.34 specs. It is in wonderful working condition but there are a couple issues with it that I must disclose. The tip of the stylus on the Preh keyboard broke off (during Mr. Connelly's ownership). Neither he nor I could figure out a way to permanently reattach it. Perhaps you are more clever than me. It works with a temporary fix, or everything can be done via the qwerty keyboard. Also, in transit from the UK to the US, the monitor housing was damaged. The monitor itself functions just fine, but the plastic housing was cracked and I had to add a couple screws to repair it. I believe I did the repairs in a tasteful and unobtrusive way, but repairs were necessary. I have the full sound library on hard drive, as well as numerous libraries of sounds provided by Peter C and Peter W. I also have a color graphics card that I have yet to install and a couple other loose cards (I'll have to check which ones). I haven't seen a Series III sale in quite some time, so I am not sure if there are recent prices to guide us. I feel comfortable in offering this unit for US$10,000 plus shipping. My preference is for a buyer who can and will use the machine and has the ability to maintain it. I'd be more than happy to give full access to the CMI in Chicago, and pictures will be available shortly. Thanks.
