Hi Fabio. This was a very, very early version of what would become Page 7, the control parameters page.

Although a matrix style patch looked good, in reality only options that made real sense were eventually implemented...

Hope this is helpful,

Hi ,

I have never seen this page before either. Looking at the photo the monitor is from a series 1. So this was probably taken in 1979 or 1980. These monitors have the old Fairlight logo. I would presume that this control page was well before Rev 11 software which was the last version to run on a Series 1 CMI ?
Does anyone have any system disks earlier than Rev 11 ? Thanks!

I: [Fairlight-CMI] floppy replacement

2013-06-26 by fabio delben

This is a really good news. I'm really impatient for this solution for my CMI and for some samplers I own.
I asked to the engineer of the link suggested, he sold a really professional solution, the emulator works 100% as a floppy replacement but it is very expensive. Chinese emulators and similar coming also from Poland did'nt work always or you can have data loss.
Ciao
Fabio

Fabio,
who said HxC is bad solution there?
That could very professional company you referred to, but... they put all competitors in the list of junks:
http://www.embeddedsw.net/Aware_of_Junk_Floppy_Emulators.html#LIST
What other professional company could do in that way??? :)
I personally have lot of experience with floppy emus, including cheap Chinese HW, that works good enough in simple PC compatible modes. And of course, I'm fan of HxC, where I contributed from prototype stage(when it was 100% free) till now. I have at least five installed in different synths now. So, don't be too hung up on trying to find the best one...
Andrei.

Re: I: [Fairlight-CMI] floppy replacement

Hi Andrei,
first of all I'm not related to the italian company of the floppy emulator. I suggest it because they provide assistance on their products and they can work on custom solution.
Some friends of mine bought the HxC and they have some problems with this emulator, it is not a plug an play device, probably because not standard floppy drive are installed in samplers and electronic instruments. I'm still looking for a replacement (the floppy drive unit not the emulator) for my Dynacord ADS, it is a not standard Teac drive. I'll be very happy if you have an emulator solution for my ADS, the CMI and my Waveterm, we are talking here about this from many years...
My intention was only to help the group to find a reliable solution.
Please let me know also about the chines HW, there are too many models and factory on ebay, I can spend some money for a try...
Ciao
Thank you
Fabio

Re: USA

Hi Peter, I too would love to connect while you are in the LA area. Getting my system looked at would be a bonus, but hanging out would be great!!! My studio space is in my home and not too big, but I could definitely host if needed. I'm actually in Orange County (Anaheim area) about 15 minutes from the convention center. Cheers!
