Flash Kit problems
2013-12-20 by mercybox@gmail.com
Hey all,
I recently installed one of JB's flash kits in my IIx and I'm having crazy problems. And it's the worst kind of problem - erratic. My flash unit has the 2 switches for drive selection, and when I set them both in the "up" position, I'm supposed to be able to boot from the 8" floppy drive. However, when I turn on the machine, the floppy light doesn't come on, and there are vertical lines on my screen. I've tried the settings for booting from the flash drive, but nothing happens (the flash drive display doesn't "count up" or anything).
The thing is, a couple of times, the thing started working. I booted from the floppy, loaded some sounds, etc. Then, for some reason, it just stopped again. I have double-checked my cables, and reseated the QFC9 card a couple of times. Nothing.
Anybody experiencing problems with this thing? I figured I'd ask here since JB reads these messages too. I know that intermittent problems like this are hard to diagnose, but I'm having trouble finding a pattern. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Laurence
