Fairlight MFX-2 controller not recognised

Fairlight MFX-2 controller not recognised

2014-01-24 by James Thomson

Hi,

I have a classic frame Fairlight MFX-2 system. All of the CMI functions work well and the controller will input text, up/down arrows and function key information fine. The problem is that I cannot load the software into the controller. I have reset the controller ram and tried to load the software in the command line using the ' MFXload ' command .
When the system boots up to the main MDR screen it doesn't recognise the controller so no track select keys light up or anything. I am also unable to get the mouse to work because the controller needs to load the software into it before I can choose the different mouse settings.
So information is travelling from controller to the mainframe but not from the mainframe to the controller. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,
have you checked all the cables? I have had a similar problem with my mfx3 and I found a defective connection.
Regards
Fabio
