CMI wanted in London

CMI wanted in London

2014-02-07 by Peter Vogel

The Barbican is having an exhibition this year and are looking for a non-functioning CMI to buy, or a functioning one on loan as they don’t have the budget to buy a working one.

Anyone got a spare?

Peter

Hi Peter,
My Series III will be up for sale. I am about to get it running, and then to sell, but if they want it as is, that is a possibility, depending on their budget. I am in the States, so there is shipping. I do have flight cases, libraries, etc. No music keyboard. Configuration is 16 voice, 14Meg RAM, Waveform supervisor, original monitor and alphanumeric. I am the original owner. The machine was used on Prince, Michael Jackson, Brian Wilson, Adam Ant, etc., etc., etc....
Regards,
Todd Herreman

Peter,

I have a non-working IIx with 2 keyboards that I seem to never have time to fix. What is the deal?

Regards,
Norm

Norm,
I can't see a reply from Peter yet - so please excuse me if I'm dropping in:
They would like to put the instrument on display in London first, and then go on tour with the show for 5 years.
They've allocated a first budget of about 2000 GBP. And (because of the tour part) are still considering whether they should include the mainframe in the display or merely show the VDU and the keyboard. I've suggested to record video from the screen display (+-sound...) and show that on the main screen from tape (or DVD, or whatever)...
You might contact Samuel Twidale, Exhibition Technical Consultant, Barbican International Enterprises, T: 020 7638 4141 ext: 5100, samuel.twidale@barbican.org.uk
(He just confirmed it was ok to post his contact here; as I can't see an option to send you a private message via yahoo groups).
Kind regards, Joerg

Hi Norm, as Joerg has pointed out, it's impossible to send a private message, but please contact me if you'd like some help fixing up your series IIX. I have all spare parts .. Regards, Peter at: horizontal_productions@hotmail.com
