8" Disks and diagnostics

Hi I'm new to the group and have a IIx (midi and analogue card) I'm just finishing to restore the beast but have slight problems with one drive calibration. It seems, according my service manual, that there is a disk with long sample files full of 0 and 1 used to see with an oscilloscope if the head of the drive is well calibrate. Does somebody know something about this? I'm also searching for 8" disks or tha ability to connect mass storage device to store the sample in maybe a more modern way? Thanks for any feedback anyway !
