DEAD - Where is everyone?

DEAD - Where is everyone?

Is this group dying or is everyone still around but keeping a low profile?

Regards,
Peter

SV: [Fairlight-CMI] DEAD - Where is everyone?

2004-02-27 by Klaus Poulsen

Hi Peter

I’m still here, reading the mails. I have just bought a digital mixersystem (Roland VM-7200 and VM-C7200) and are spending all my sparetime learning the digital mixerworld. I have always used analogue mixers, but have now decided to join the digital world. It’s very exciting. It’s quite different – even for a Fairlight-user. It’s far more complex with a lot of new possibilities, but best of all – I got rid of more than 100 cables – insertcables, a lot of peripheral cables to and from effect-machines etc.

Sincerely

Klaus

Hi Peter,

Personaly, I joined this group to share technical information
with the other members. As JB said (en Francais), most of the
Fairlight technical docs available on the web are from himself,
and most of them have been hacked to remove his signature at
the end of the documents (not fair at all)... Personaly, I'm
ready to invest some time and energy into this group, but only
if the other members do the same... So in the meantime, I'm
learning how to use my Series III in order to use it in film
score projects soon.

Best regards.

	Laurent.

Hi Peter,

I'm still here. Have wondered the same thing as it has been so quiet in here for quite
along time it seems.

Mucking about on my Fairlight as time allows. Need to get a multi track.

I have a digital multitrack/mixer. Fostex VF 160. DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!! I guess I'm a
fuddy-duddy and still addicted to analogue. The hard drive in said digital multitracker is
corrupt and it's less than a year old, well, approaching a year old now.

When I feel like putting the money into getting it repaired, about the only use I can find for
it is to sample into the Fairlight with. Otherwise, I'm still searching ebay for a nice
analogue recroder to go with my Mackie 16ch mixer. My Mackie mixer is great, I love my
Alesis Microverb...I'll stay firmly entrenched in analogue.

Jerry

Hi Peter,

I'm still around. I was in the US last week for business, so was not
able to read. Normally I do get a fresh update every day.

What mixers does everyone use ? I am in the market for one, but still
going back and forth between automated digital (automation attractive)
and unautomated analogue (warmth and price attractive).

Best regards,
Harald.

Hi Jerry,

If your Fostex is still under a year old, it is under warranty. I'd
say get it shipped to the manufacturer ASAP ! :)

Noted, Mackie is great :)

I still have to answer that mail... Just got back from LA.

Best regards,
Harald.

I'm not dead, and not intend to (in near future); just instead of
Fairlight matters (audio demo tape has been downloaded 216 times
since putting online- total fairlight.id.uw.edu.pl traffic 715MB)
I'm now doing "Indigo" matters - ie. another oldtimer: SGI Indigo.
Also promoted my Indy to Indy XGE, soon will have a full blown system,
and maybe add some CosmoCompression board (realtime mJPEG and MPEG).

Also, seriously set up to buy a full CMI III withing next 5 years! :)

Greetings to all.
