Series III and the IIx

Series III and the IIx

2003-08-08 by Colin Ross

I totally agree with all of Gerald's views Kevin about Series IIx
and Series III. 2 very diferent instruments. The III with HD
installed as standard allowed more room for more complex software
programming resulting in a host of advanced features.
The series iix had its own style of operartion and sound which
seemed to bring the best out of artists. The series III improved on
sample quality however you can transfer the series IIx samples to
the III with very little change to the original sample. Page R's can
also be transfered so that all previous work could be still used.
The way the SIII packages everything together and in 1985 was such a
leap forward in the music industry. The software was developed for 5
years to Rev 9.34. The use of SCSI allowed you to save work and have
a large library available via internal and external Hard Drives,
WORM etc. Also Ram can still be expanded to 32MB. Also you can get a
3.25 floppy drive fitted so easy to find medea can be used. All in
all these are both fantastic machines in there own right. You would
never regret owning a Series III as it can do some amazing things.
Best regards
Colin
