2004 Meeting - a suggestion

2004 Meeting - a suggestion

2004-05-18 by pmjtaysom

Well, with only four days to go, and no sign of a venue or other
information, I've let the van I had arranged to bring my Series II,
Series III, PPG Wave 2.3 and Waveterm B and Synclavier PSMT go - I
don't want to pay for a van when I don't need it :-(

I don't mean to tread on anyone's toes with this - I'm still
relatively new to this group - but would like to suggest another date
be arranged by the active members of this group.

For starters, I would recommend a venue well outside of London -
travel and accomodation is much cheaper in, say Cambridge, and road
access is vastly superior too!

A friend of mine arranges the 'Synth-DIY' meets at one of the
Cambridge University halls - which provide plenty of space, and very
cheap accomodation for those who are traveling and need to stay over.

*IF* people are interested in salvaging this event (and I for one
would love to swap samples / experiences with other users) then I'd be
happy to look into a date at a location like Cambridge and report back
to the group with an estimate of costs.

Any date is going to have to be after the University's go home for the
summer recess.

Please do not think I am trying to be insensitive to the work of
people who founded this forum - I'm just keen to see if I can bring
some asistance to the cause.

Comments / flames appreciated and expected ;-)

I would like to add my support for your comments, Philip. As you say, no
offence in intended to anyone.

A simultaneous meeting here near Niagara Falls, Ontario would be good
for the same reasons that you suggested Cambridge as an alternative to
London. I will remain ready to make arrangements.

Plan it out far enough in advance and I can come. I can bring my IIx, and anything else from the museum that mey interest fairlight users.
