Inexpensive upgrade to revision 9

Inexpensive upgrade to revision 9

2004-05-28 by horiprod

I actully posted the message below to Laurent, but it may be of
interest to others... Let me know.

I'm afraid I don't have any further information about the old style
Hitachi hard discs as I gave all of these and controller cards to
Colin Ross before I left London. You'll also find that the discs are
next to impossible to find, which is one of the (many) reasons I
don't get involved in the earlier rev 6 machines any more. Upgraded
rev 9 machines can format and access virtually any hard drive up to 4
Gbyes, are lightning fast, AND SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME as before.
There are a huge number of other improvements and new features too,
which you read about on my website at www.horizontal.co.uk I know
that no-one on these pages wants to spend money getting their old
machines upgraded, but I may be able to offer a solution: I could
sell an upgrade kit of waveform supervisor card, formatted 4 Gbyte
hard disc full of excellent sound libraries and the revision 9
software, new manuals, full instructions and all the loose components
for about GBP 1,000. However, you would have to get a very good
technician to do this, and you still might have timing problems with
old 2 Mbyte RAM cards. There are no problems with 4, 8 or 32 Mbyte
cards.. I could even include a colour graphics card (so you can use a
sexy flat LCD screen) for an extra GBP 500.. Also, there's no tax
now!

Hope this is helpful,

regards,

Peter Wielk
