David - Thanks for your response.
Unfortunately I definitely don't have diskpart routine on my system disk; I
have checked all partitions but all I have is cmipart. However, given that
the 11.39 routine is superior, do you (or anyone else for that matter) know
where I can either get a copy of the 11.39 system disk, or a copy of the
11.39 diskpart routine?
I find it interesting that you only needed to use diskpart to format and
partition the drives, in that you did not have to use scsiformat first. My
understanding was that you needed to format the SCSI drives using
scsiformat and then divide the space up using diskpart. With reference to
your point regarding the execution environment, I ran all the commands from
the OS9 shell, not from within CMI.
I tried formatting the drives again last night, however the problems
persist. I put the drives back in my PC and low level formatted them here
and verified the disks (everything checked out fine), however when trying
again in the CMI, this had not helped, so if anyone can help me out, it
would be most appreciated.
(BTW I live in London and will be attending the event on 27-06)
Thanks,
Chris.

Please respond to [Fairlight-CMI] Re: Formatting a
Fairlight-CMI second hard drive (Series III)
Hi Chris,
yes, I've formatted 4 external 4GB Seagate Barracuda ST-15150N
SCSI-2 hard drives on my Series III Rev 9.34. I used the diskpart
command from OS 11.39 because I'm told that it's the best
formatting software rev for 4GB drives. I booted my CMI
with an OS 11.39 floppy and used the 11.39 diskpart
command to setup the drives:
diskpart /scx0 -h -s=4000
the value of x is the SCSI ID of the new drive.
This does a hard format and limits the drive to 4GB and it
installs 8 software partitions. You do this from the shell,
not from within the CMI software. You need to exit from CMI,
not just shell out.
Each hard format takes about 15-20 minutes to complete
on a 4GB drive.
I installed all of these four 4GB drives in an external SCSI
4-bay drive case (SUN Microsystems white case, looks cool).
This is in conjunction with my internal IBM 4GB SCSI drive in
the CMI chassis.
I think you need the diskpart command, it should be there
on your boot drive (at least the rev 9.34 version should be)
hope this helps,
David
