Jim:  I don't know about PCB shops "up there," but I have  gotten 4" 
"cut-offs" from local shops, as anything narrower than 4" is useless  in their 
plating/etching rigs, so they shear off the "work" and trash the  cut-offs.  These 
are about 3' long!  ONE trip will supply me for two  or three years of
