I normally reply on the bottom side of messages, but the HTML that yahoo adds makes it difficult. Anyway, What I did was use the back side of the blade on a heavy-duty X-Acto knife to scrape the aluminum. I had to remove perhaps 1mm of material. It was a bit time consuming but it was not particularly dangerous because I kept my flesh out of the possible path of the knife. If you have a rotary tool such as a Dremel, you could probably use it.
