IIRC you have to manually change the first line of the gschem netlist to "*PADS-PCB*" (without the quotes) for FreePCB to recognize it. I don't use netlists as I haven't synched a few of the gschem and FreePCB symbols. href="http://www.freepcb.com/" You are probably going to have to create a LOT of symbols no matter which layout package you get.
