GBC Laminator

GBC Laminator

2005-10-09 by milkgonefunky

Hi guys,
I am in AU, and I just bought a GBC Creative Laminator. I am yet to
try it out for the purposes of sticking a PCB pattern to a copper
board, but I have ran the copper board through and it fits BARELY. A
little filing of the platsic should fix that. I am not sure how slow
you guys run your laminators, but this seems kinda slow. The speed
isn't adjustable though, but I figure I can change this later with an
electronic control.

I got the uni for $80 from K-mart, there is also a $40 one, which
handles thinner material, but it might work just the same ey!

Anyone else tried these laminators?

When I try it, I will report my results.

The inexpensive version is the unit sold by Pulsar.gs for their
systems. They work well with .8mm thick boards. My experience is
that multiple passes through the unit are required to get good toner
adhesion.

GBC Laminator

Hey guys, new to this group. Just purchased a NEW GBC 9 inch laminator from Amazon for 14.50. Thought I'd pass it along.

Do you have a link to the laminator you purchased? How much was shipping? Is this the 2 heat version? OR single heat?

I've been using those for the last yr or so and they really work good - with a temperature control added so the temp is around 310F for running PCB thru. I've used .062" and thinner. With .062" it's best to bevel the edge a tad to make it slide thru better.

Sounds like a deal...do you have a link to the product page?

Sorry to take so long to reply. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JXJ5HQ/ref=oss_product

Thanks for the link - That is a good deal - shipping makes it about $22 and change, I think that is the single heat version, but I don't expect that to be a problem as I'm sure the single heat version is only the "high" heat setting on the dual heat.

It will take several times to get up to temp, and without some temperature control it just barely gets hot enough. Also, allow it to heat until the green LED comes on (hottest), then quickly run PCB thru several times before it's had a chance to cool any. It will cool to around 250F (or less?) before it starts heating again.

Cool. Think I'm going to grab one of these, and see about bypassing the
auto-cooldown sensor.
